MLFCU has announced the winners of its annual scholarship program. Each year, the program awards several scholarships – valued at $1,000 each – to graduating high school seniors to help reduce the financial burden of pursuing post-secondary education.
Winners are selected based on their academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, and critical thinking and writing skills.
The following winners were selected (alphabetical order by last name):
Katelyn Callahan – Emporium Branch
Katelyn Callahan attends Cameron County High School in Emporium, PA. She has participated in basketball, colorguard, band, softball, class treasurer, pep club, president of the Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society, member of the National Honor Society, National German Honor Society, National English Honor Society, National Science Honor Society, and National Art Honor Society. Katelyn plans to attend college for Pathology.
Payton Frank – Warren East Branch
Payton Frank attends Eisenhower Senior High School in Russell, PA. Payton is a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, and Student Counsel. She has been in soccer, softball, and bowling, lettering in several years of those. She has been on the Merit Honor Roll every year. Payton plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford to achieve a degree in Forensic Science with a concentration in Biology. She has also committed to playing soccer for the Lady Panthers at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.
Katherine Parana – Kane Branch
Katherine Parana attends Kane Area High School in Kane, PA where she is ranked #1 in her class. Katherine has been in student counsel, SADD program, Special Olympiad, Prom, NHS, Reading Competitions, Quizbowl which she received Player of the Match Award. She lettered in varsity softball for 3 years and received the Leadership Award in 2023. Katherine plans to attend college at Penn State University Park Majoring in Engineering.
Julia Postlewait – Port Allegany Branch
Julia Postlewait attends Port Allegany High School in Port Allegany, PA. Julia has been in the National Honor Society, 6-year member of student council serving as President for 2 years, prom, Friends of Ratchel, yearbook, and Peer Helpers. She is very active in the community as a volunteer. Julia plans on attending College at PennWest Clarion dual majoring in Early Childhood and Special Education.
Alexa Schneider – St. Marys Branch
Alexa Schneider attends St Mary’s Area High School in St Mary’s Pa. Alexa is part of the National Honor Society and Team Renaissance. She earned Rookie of the Year in Basketball and 2 letters in her 4-year basketball career. Alexa was a statistician for track and baseball. She enjoys volunteering in the community and at school. Alexa plans on attending PennWest Clarion to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.
Cadence Stiles – Bradford Branch
Cadence Stiles attends Bradford High School in Bradford Pa where she obtained her Certified Nurse’s Assistant Certification. Cadence has participated in basketball and golf where we she was the team captain. She participated in Volleyball, Skiing, Volunteer Club, National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, Skills USA, and Envirothon. She is very active in the community as a volunteer. Cadence plans to attend Jamestown Community College to obtain her RN.
Sarah Tome – Warren West Branch
Sarah Tome attends Warren Area High School in Youngsville, PA. Sarah is a member of DECA, FBLA, and WCCC Student Ambassadors. She attended the regional and state conferences for DECA in the event category Apparel and Accessories Marketing. She has been a member of Molly Dies Dance Express Competition Team for 7 years out of the 15 years of dance total.
